Tamiko Rothhorn and Austin Kaufmann make their debut at Albion Malleable Brewing Company’s Monday Night Music series, playing from 7-9pm. The band hopes to return to Albion Malleable in full form later this summer. Time to write another verse to “The Michigan Beer Song”!
The Dangling Participles are a Lansing-based band with a diverse song set ranging from Americana and rock to jazz and blues. As album reviewer Ricky Olmos of Local Spins put it, “The Dangling Participles’ ‘Present’ evokes sonic images of crowded back-alley speakeasies, smokey blues bars and exotic, faraway lands. [Their album] is a genre-spanning body of work, with an inclination toward acoustic-inspired songs.”
The group’s soulful vocals—shared by Tamiko Rothhorn and Austin Kaufmann—give the group its signature sound, rich in harmonies. Instrumentally, Kaufmann anchors the group on guitar, with Tamiko adding cornet and ukulele. When they perform as a full band, Tamiko and Austin are joined by Tim Patterson on his bass and Dan Moreno on percussion.
The Dang Ps have been performing genre-hopping originals and fun covers throughout mid-Michigan since 2015, bringing together their love of songwriting, harmonizing, and arranging, and pairing those with a lively on-stage performance.
