It’s all about passion and curiosity. – C.J. & Stacy Frost
The idea of historic restoration may seem overwhelming. You may think, where do you start? How do you do it? How is restoration different than construction?
In episode 13 of the Brick by Brick Podcast, I had the chance to speak with C.J. and Stacy Frost from Frost Historic Restoration to better understand the work of restoration, and their current projects in Albion.
I always thought that people in historic preservation need specific degrees or types of education to properly complete the work. The Frosts shared that it’s not so much about a traditional educational degree but more about curiosity to learn the history of the building, and the passion to continue learning. The curiosity drives the research in the architecture and history of the buildings, leading to the methods of restoration. That’s not to say you don’t have to have certain licenses and develop the skill set for restoration, but passion and curiosity are the foundation to the industry.
