In late June, eight youth and four adults set off to Noisy-le-Roi and Bailly, France for a two-week trip! This adventure was the most recent of those coordinated by Albion’s Sister City Committee. Each traveler stayed with a host family in our sister cities, creating a unique and special experience. The group of travelers spent their trip exploring Noisy-le-Roi and Bailly, venturing into the big city of Paris, diving into history in Versailles, and making countless memories in-between. The students spent time at the local schools, learning what it is like to be educated in France, and immersing themselves into the lives of a French family. After speaking with a few travelers, the excitement around the experience shined.
One young traveler, Malia, learned how to get out of her comfort zone as she traveled aboard exploring new foods such as escargot. Stephanie enjoyed seeing Paris from the water, as the group took a boat ride down the Seine River. While Taly was fond of June weather, and like most, Ana was excited to see the Eiffel Tower.
Each youth traveler explored France with a unique lens because they are doing projects to share their experience with the Albion community. Malia is focusing on the differences between French and American cuisine. Taly’s project is based on the similarities and differences of going to France as a young child versus a teenager. This trip was her second time to our sister cities. Ana studied the architecture, and Stephanie is comparing the differences in everyday life.
Learn more about the young travelers’ adventures at their project showcase, Sunday August 11th at 3PM. Location soon to be determined. Au revoir!
