Albion Alumnus Alan Headbloom will screen the documentary “Newcomer Legacy: A Vietnamese-American Story,” which weaves the stories of nine Vietnamese refugees and their arrival in West Michigan. Their resettlement includes acclimating to the area and overcoming racial, cultural, and linguistic barriers. Their quiet, noble rise to success is a tribute to the ongoing immigrant experiment that is the American story. Following the film, there will be a discussion panel with two of the interviewees, Thi Bui, and Alan Headbloom.
This lecture is a part of the Albion College Common Reading Experience for the 2019-2020 school year.
