The Role of the Albion Health Care Alliance & It’s Program – Community Table of Albion
Imagine struggling to have enough food to last before your next paycheck or skipping a few meals so your child can eat. The Albion Health Care Alliance has seen the struggle of hunger in the Albion community and works every day to help end it.
The Albion Health Care Alliance (AHCA) was established in 2002 to advocate and ensure access to necessary health care services for Albion residents. Now, AHCA supports various forms of health in our community including fostering a home for health services at the Dr. Ralph and Mary Cram Medical Center, providing health education opportunities, and tackling our community’s food insecurity through the Community Table of Albion (CTA) program.
The Community Table of Albion has seen and experienced various changes in the Albion community, but has found stability as an AHCA program. In 2025, the drive through food distribution and pantry moved to its current location at the Marshall Opportunity High School, 225 E. Watson Street.
The Experience
On the second, third, and fourth Tuesday of every month, the Opportunity High School is packed with cars for pick-up, volunteers, and food boxes.
Before the drive-through even starts – volunteers and AHCA staff are packing hundreds of food boxes filled with pantry staples, frozen goods, fresh produce, and more. Then from 3PM – 5PM, participants drive-through the pick-up line, answer a few simple questions like “how many people are in your household?”, and receive a box of food. On average, CTA serves 750 households per month.
In addition to the drive-through, food insecurity is being addressed via the monthly walk-in pantry, where participants can “shop” for additional food products. The pantry is open on the first Tuesday from 10AM – 6PM.

Local Support
Beyond the programmed drive-through and food pantry, CTA supports other organizations addressing food insecurities like Alpha Kappa Alpha’s “Childhood Hunger Initiative Power Pack”, food within our local schools, and commodities for low-income seniors.
In 2025 alone, CTA served 6,209 individuals representing 17,404 households, and the number of people in need is only rising.
