DESCRIPTION:Perform with us! Fluence Arts wants to create dance with you!\n\nCome to In-Fluence Studio for a Reverse Audition. A Reverse Audition is your chance to check us out. Try a short warm-up and some movement. Experience Kristy Clements’ teaching. Learn about our upcoming June 6th performance.\n\nThen\, if interested\, community dancers will commit to a rehearsal schedule in April and May\,and to perform on June 6th. Dancers will learn a role in a brand-new contemporarydance piece made especially for them!\n\nNo dance experience is required. Dance is for everybody. Yes\, every body! All we ask for is a willingness to try new things and a commitment to attend and do your best.All community members ages 10 and up are welcome! Participants must be at least 15 years of age to attend on their own. Dancers ages 10 to 15 are welcome to participate with an adult present at rehearsals. There is NO COST to participate. It’s free. We teach; you dance!\n\nTo be involve in the Community Dance Project you must attend one of the Reverse Auditions: Wednesday\, April 1st from 6 to 8 pm\, or Saturday\, April 4th from 2 to 4 pm.The studio is located at 600 E. Michigan Ave\, Room 204\, within Albion’s First United Methodist Church complex.\n\nWear comfortable clothing that allows full range of motion (no jeans). Bring clean socks\,slippers\, dance shoes\, or go barefoot on the studio floor. Street shoes or bootscannot be used on the dance floor. DESCRIPTION:Hear from speaker Larry Bell on “Brewing\, Bicycling\, Trails\, and Life After Beer” as the Albion Area Lifelong Learners’ kick off their spring semester of learning. \nAALL Membership & Registration Information  \nWhile members must be 55 or older\, younger partners are also eligible to join. Annual dues are $30 per person\, with the membership year running from July 1 through June 30 of the following year. Dues are prorated based on when a member joins: \n\n$30 for the full year\n$20 if joining after one academic session\n$10 if joining after two academic sessions\n\nMembers may take one free course per term (fall\, winter\, and spring). Additional courses in the same term cost $10 per course. Some classes may have extra charges for materials or transportation. \nMembers who are unsure whether their dues have been paid for the current year should contact the AALL Registrar at registrar@albionaall.org

DESCRIPTION:Albion College’s History Department\, in conjunction with the college’s 2026 Yinger Endowed Lecture in the Humanities\, welcomes Alysia Abbott to Albion College and the Bohm Theatre for the Michigan premier of Fairyland\, Friday\, April 10th\, at 7:00 pm.\n\nAlysia is the author of Fairyland: A Memoir of My Father(2013)\, about growing up in the 1970s and 80s in San Francisco as the only child of a single gay man. The 2023 dramatic film adaptation was shown in selected theaters nationally just this past fall. The winner of a number of film festival awards\, Fairyland was also nominated for a 2026 GLAAD Media award for Outstanding Film in Limited Release. Praised as an “unconventional coming-of-age story”\, “a moving\, warmly funny portrait of a bygone era of queer life and liberation” “that is at its very big heart a universal story of family\, love\, staying true to who you are\, and being there for each other when it counts the most”\, Fairyland has been received positively by both reviewers and audiences\, scoring 96% on Rotten Tomatoes’ Tomatometer.\n\nAlysia will introduce the film.
