SUMMARY:8 Year Anniversary Rock Fest w/Bask\, Winds of Neptune\, Glass Chimera
DESCRIPTION:It’s been 8 years\, going on ∞ – and we’re throwing a party to rock the block to celebrate. Three bands – outdoor stage – no cover. Great food and beer specials all day\, and an amazing lineup of rock music kicking off at 5pm.\n\nWe are honored to have our day headlined by North Carolina psychedelic rockers BASK\, who’s new album The Turning was named “Best Rock Album of 2025” at the LIT Music Awards\, and we couldn’t agree more. “Blends heavy Americana\, prog\, stoner rock\, and country for a unique album of the year contender.” – The Metal Pit. “It’s a stunning effort that packs a lot of details without overstretching\, giving listeners plenty of immediate hooks…” metaltrenches.com. “Speckled with spacey atmospherics\, Bask indulge in a psychedelic-yet-focused take on Elder-style stoner metal.” The Progressive Subway.\n\nBask will be supported by two killer Detroit acts – Winds of Neptune and Glass Chimera.\n\nWinds of Neptune released their self-titled debut in late 2025\, described by Outlaws of the Sun blog as “All killer\, no filler.” While the band is new\, the musicians are seasoned rockers including Mike Alonso of the legendary Flogging Molly. Classic hard rock sounds and big hooks make for a fantastic Detroit Rock City addition.\n\nGlass Chimera will kick everything off at 5pm. We’ve been looking to bring this psychedelic trio in for years\, and this is the perfect show for it. Many of our regulars will recognize drummer Aaryn Lindow from his other project Edison Hollow\, a house favorite at Albion Malleable. Their music – in their own words: “South Warren Psychedelic Jazz Punk. Our goal is to constantly subvert and scrutinize the line between harmony and dissonance.”\n\nThank you to our sponsors Albion Insurance Agency and Walk the Beat – Albion. Sound provided by The Cave – Concord.\n\nAnnSee you at The Malleable for a killer ∞ Year bash.

SUMMARY:Dealing with Invasive Species: Watch List Species and CISMAs - AALL Course
DESCRIPTION:Lead by Sara Rahn and April Savickas\, Invasive species coordinator\, and Program specialist\, Barry Calhoun Kalamazoo Cooperative Invasive Species Management Area (BCK CISMA)/Barry Conservation District \nWednesday 2:00-4:00 pm.  Single AALL session\, May 20 (linked to the second\, hands-on public event on May 27).  Class size unlimited. \nInvasive species are everywhere\, impacting recreation\, agriculture\, the economy\, and local habitats. April and Sara\, two local land managers that focus on invasive species in three counties through the Barry Calhoun Kalamazoo Cooperative Invasive Species Management Area (BCK CISMA) are here to guide you through: ways to manage invasive species\, strategies when managing your property\, what newer invasive species to look out for\, and an example of the key purpose of CISMAs to respond to new invasive detections right in Albion. Mile-a-minute weed\, a highly invasive vine\, was detected in Albion in 2020\, its first detection in Michigan. Learn how local partners and the BCK CISMA strike team responded to this new plant and the status after 5 years of management. BCK CISMA’s mission is to combat the threat of invasive species in Barry\, Kalamazoo\, and Calhoun counties. We are a resource to help you with your invasive species management goals. We assist landowners with invasive species management. Our priority invasives are mile-a-minute weed\, knotweed species\, phragmites\, black swallow-wort\, cinnamon vine\, giant hogweed\, and more. Information about the partnership and species listed is available on our website at BarryCD.org/BCK. \nParticipants in this class are encouraged to also participate in the Mile-A-Minute Weed Learn and Pull\, Wednesday May 27\, 6:00-8:00 pm at the Whitehouse Nature Center.  You can register for this free public event at bit.ly/LearnandPull2026. \nAlbion Area Lifelong Learners Membership & Registration Information  \nWhile members must be 55 or older\, younger partners are also eligible to join.
